Trial Court Restructuring: Writ Jurisdiction in a Small Claims Case

At the Legislature's direction, the Law Revision Commission has been reviewing the codes and recommending reforms to delete or update material made obsolete by trial court restructuring. Much work on this topic has been completed and enacted into law. For a number of reasons, some work remains to be done. For details, see Statutes Made Obsolete by Trial Court Restructuring.
This study focuses on jurisdiction of a writ petition that relates to a small claims case. After extensive study, the Commission approved a final recommendation. The Commission's proposal has been enacted. See AB 1529 (Dickinson), 2012 Cal. Stat. ch. 470, §§ 2, 3.
