Data Reports and Resources
The Committee has statutory authority to receive data from state and local agencies. See Government Code sections 8286 & 8286.5. The Committee works with the California Policy Lab at UC Berkeley and UCLA to securely store and analyze data that the Committee has received. A full list of data reports published with the California Policy Lab can be found at the California Policy Lab website here. In addition, the Committee produces the below dynamic data resources that are regularly updated:- California Prison Population Dashboards showing county-level information on people admitted to, released from, or currently incarcerated in California's prisons. Data includes sentence length and demographic information and spans 2015 to the current time.
- Prop 36 (2024) Prison Data showing admissions to prison and sentence length by demographic for people convicted of new felony offenses created by Proposition 36 in 2024. Data will be updated monthly.
